This Calendar of Events lists CMAC National events as well as Branch education programs which that can be attended by CMAC members across the country. To find more information on activities for your Branch and region, please refer to the Regional Branches section of the website or contact your Branch directly. 

Please note that to successfully register, you must complete the following steps: First, select your current member category; next, select the desired event package; lastly, click "Save & Continue" to fill out the registration form.

To register multiple people on the same invoice, register yourself first, then you will be given the option to add additional people. A separate registration form must be completed for each individual.

2020 CMI with Ivey Business School - Personal & Professional Growth – Enhancing Your Leadership & Marketing Skills

December 2, 2020 to December 4, 2020

1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This course runs on two days only. (Note: there is no class on December 3, 2020.)

Part I (December 2, 1-4 pm ET) - Success and Excellence Starts with YOU: Maximize your success by better understanding the fundamentals of leadership communication.
In this 3-hour leadership development workshop, we focus on you. This hands-on and interactive workshop will introduce and, in some cases, reinforce strategies and techniques to bring your best self forward. It will help you better adapt and pivot in dynamic, shifting and virtual environments. As adult learners, the key to growth is experiential learning.  As such we will explore and practices skills which will help you build stronger relationships with your members and key stakeholders.

Course Outline
Focus: Putting Your Best Self Forward

  • Develop your leadership communication competencies
  • Enhance your ability to have influence and impact
  • Improve your confidence and bring your best self forward, in person and in virtual settings

Course Instructor

Dr. Kanina Blanchard has led organizations globally.  She has managed issues and lobbied governments. As an expert in leader development, crisis management, and public affairs, Kanina supports her clients to develop customized and sustainable solutions. As an educator at the premier business school in Canada, the Ivey Business School, Dr. Blanchard focuses on individual growth and as a researcher is passionate about women in leadership and responsible leadership.

Part II (December 4, 1-4 pm ET) - How Can I Make Better Marketing Decisions?
As a club manager you’re ultimately responsible for all aspects of business operations at your facility. For many of you, the need to attract, secure and retain members is a new, important and growing responsibility. More and more clubs are seeing waiting lists dwindle, while demands for discretionary spending are growing each year among prospective new members.  Understanding this, the ability to make good marketing decisions is vital.

Course Outline
Focus: Managerial Decision Making For Marketing

  • Building a decision framework – taking all the pieces of marketing and showing how they fit together to better understand how good decisions are made
  • Winning strategies – understanding the elements of positioning, value propositions and target audience selections
  • Tactical execution – understanding how to develop plans to leverage your marketing strategy
  • Return on marketing investment - expenditures and other evaluative approaches
  • Application – taking the concepts discussed and applying them to the private club industry

Course Instructor

Colin McDougall has almost done it all in marketing. Creating ads, writing and starring in ads, managing the marketing agency relationship, developing products and now teaching marketing at the premier business school in Canada, the Ivey Business School, Colin simply makes learning fun. As an educator, Colin engages his audience in a compelling way by asking thoughtful, structured questions thereby deepening the learning of his students.
