How Great Governance can Create Great Clubs
The relationship between a general manager/chief operating officer and a Club president has a significant impact on the performance of a Club's board and the Club in general. Developing a relationship of trust, respect and understanding between the elected and operational leaders of the Club are critical to the success of the Club as is having a thorough understanding of best practices in governance. Creating a culture of great governance can, in turn, create a well-run Club that is valued by its members and potential members.
The Canadian Society of Club Managers (CSCM) is pleased to present its third Governance Workshop to be held at the National Club in Toronto on April 4-5, 2018. This workshop is an opportunity to have focused, quality time away from the club with your leadership partner as well as the opportunity to network with those from other clubs, sharing experiences, challenges and solutions.

"I had the pleasure of attending a two day CSAE workshop Symposium developed for Chief Officers and Chief Elected Officers in my role as incoming President of CSCM. This session was developed to help clarify and strengthen the unique role between Senior Staff and Board Chair’s and ensure that everyone is on the same page with the goals and vision for their organizations. Last year CSCM piloted a similar workshop in Toronto which I also attended.
Through interactive sessions, the workshop provides a great deal of information, knowledge, and "take-aways" which assist greatly in our understanding of each other's roles. The Leadership skills learned help emphasized the importance of working together on the same common goals as way to achieve success. I have used the lessons learned both in my role as COO/GM of The National Club and on volunteer Boards that I have served on and strongly recommend this program for CSCM members and their club leadership partners."
Bill Morari, General Manager/COO, The National Club, Past President of CSCM
