The Canadian Society of Club Managers encourages those interested in pursuing a profession in club management to explore the various educational options available, and is interested in exploring partnership opportunities with the College and University programs to better serve our members and the industry. We currently offer both Faculty and Student memberships, and the annual Val Mason Scholarship to a student currently enrolled in a school, college or university who is intending to pursue a career in club management.

Keep up to date on club management news and views with the CSCM quarterly, Club Managers Quarterly (CMQ).  To subscribe to CMQ, click here

There are two scholarship programs available through CSCM - the Val Mason Scholarship at the national level and the Ontario Branch Student Scholarship.

 "As I continue to meet people in the industry and learn from my instructors and others who compliment the industry, I know that I am on the right path to my next career."

 Lorene MacGregor
2008 Val Mason Scholarship Recipient

The Val Mason Scholarship Fund of the Canadian Society of Club Managers provides for the award of scholarships of $2,000 each.  In addition, each recipient receives complimentary student membership in the CSCM for the membership year following the award.

To qualify for these Scholarships, the following criteria have been set by the Society:

  • The applicant must be nominated by a member of the Society and a covering letter of recommendation must accompany the application package;
  • The applicant must be employed, or have been recently employed, at a member Club of the Society;
  • The applicant must have shown a keen interest in pursuing a career in our industry.

The applicant must be nominated by a member of the Society and must provide a minimum 500-word essay explaining his/her interest in the Private Club Industry.  Each applicant must indicate how his/her education is presently funded.  Each applicant must include a transcript of his/her grades.

A weighted score is allocated to a number of the above criteria, therefore it is important to ensure the application is complete in all aspects.

All applications must be received at the CSCM National Office no later than 5:00 p.m. (Eastern) on the deadline established for that year.

For over a decade, the Ontario Branch of the Canadian Society of Club Managers has proudly offered scholarships to deserving students with a career interest in Club Management.  We recognize it takes a combination of both hard work and educational funding for most students to achieve their goal of a post-secondary education. That’s why we have developed the scholarship program to help address the critical need for student funding.  For further details and to apply for the scholarship, please click here.
